Our Story

Hair Stylist Extraordinaire, Tierra Kendrick is a 2009 graduate of Phagans School of  Design. Her journey at PSoD began in 2007 and during her two year stint as a student, Tierra received proper extensive training. That intensive training combined with her passion for the craft and determination to be great, took her skill to new heights, branding her as a master stylist.

With over 12 years of experience in the hair industry, Tierra’s innovative styling techniques have accumulated an ever-growing list of lifetime and high-end clientele.

Her roster includes, but is not limited to, the styling of brides. One notable woman being Typhany Weeks (Reggie Weeks - Baseball) working alongside the remarkably talented Mindy Weiss (Wedding Coordinator). Tierra has also styled many reputable models such as Yadira Borrego, Anel, Zashia, Destinee Milian, Iesha Marie, Alisha Berry, Kye Alexis, and Katherine Williams.

Tierra has worked with TV/Radio personalities such as Summer Alexis (WESH2) and K Foxx (135 the beat) along with being taught by Tokyo Stylez and Arrogant Tae.

She also has male clients, such as Archangel Famous (Latin artist), Asamoah Gyan (caption of the Ghana Soccer Team for 2014 world cup), security for hip hop artist, and B. Flow (celebrity Barber).

Last, but not least she has styled on set of many photoshoots with top photographers Derek G. and Roblo. 

 OUR HISTORY

The Design Essentials hair care system was launched in 1990. Cornell McBride envisioned a program that combined direct distribution of premium, quality hair care solutions with the education and knowledge to effectively use them in the salon and at home. This premise inspired the collection which now includes the Therapeutics Rx, Wave by Design and Colaura brands. Our products are engineered to infuse hair with a natural balance of vitamins and protein that promote movement and manageability.
